Christi Corbett

Eighteen years ago, Philip Grant—overcome with regret for what he couldn’t foresee and memories of what he couldn’t prevent—abandoned all to live the solitary life of a fur trapper. Years spent roaming ridgelines and riverbanks in Montana Territory left his body weary and his confidence weak, so he decides to turn in his last bundle of furs and await the inevitable in a cabin. Alone.

Then a body-shaped lump wrapped in a quilt changes everything.

Philip discovers a battered woman and her infant son, on the run from a ruthless abuser with a penchant for whiskey. Seventy miles of snow-covered mountain peaks and windswept flatlands stand between them and safety—the woman’s aunt’s house.

Can Philip trust in his newfound faith to lead the way?

Margaret Tanner

"Christmas is my favourite time of the year. A chance to gather the relatives close and to catch up with friends. Here in Australia, it is summer and usually hot. Most families don't have the "traditional" Christmas fare i.e. plum puddings, roast chicken, turkey, ham and vegetables any more. My parents and their generation always followed the tradition of having the hot English Christmas lunch, but the following generations don't go in for that fare any more. Sad in a way, but a "shrimp on the barbie," salads and cold meat have become very popular. Many families now go out to a hotel or restaurant for Christmas lunch or dinner, which is lovely, as no one has to do the dishes when the meal is over."

Zac Goodman is a gunslinger who is haunted by an injustice from his past. He finds heavily pregnant Holly O’Leary in an abandoned wagon, her cheating husband lying dead a few yards away.

Reluctantly he takes her to his cabin to give birth.

Will this miracle Christmas baby unite two tortured souls? Or will it forever keep them apart.
