She's a lush melody; he's a sensual soul. Together they make passionate music.

BOOK SUMMARY

Maggie carries music in her soul. She lives and breathes it.

Tanner is a reluctant temporary guitarist in her band. He wants the stability his day job offers, but Maggie sings to the wild side of his heart.

Maggie is equally drawn to Tanner: his talent, looks, and quiet humor. Every time they rehearse, the chords of passion between them deepen, proving the chemistry impossible to deny. They give in to lust, but try to safeguard their hearts, knowing they want different things from life. Maggie will never give up on her music, and while Tanner craves Maggie, he’s never wanted the life of a musician.

In the end, they must decide if they’re willing to adjust their dreams, or become another sad love song.

In the author's words . . .

In this music romance, it is the woman who takes center stage. I love that Maggie is the lead singer of her band. She is ambitious and strong. Meanwhile, Tanner, Maggie's love interest, is the sexy nerd (who's also very talented on the guitar). He doesn't crave the spotlight, but loves the music and wants Maggie. It is a slight twist on most rockstar romances, and it was a delight to write.

"DK Marie has quickly become one of my favorite romance writers. She writes classic romance, but with her own twist on traditional power dynamics. Love Songs does not disappoint! 5+ stars for Love Songs. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves romance, and strong, confident heroines."

"So, I'm no romance buff but this book was killer. I enjoyed every page. I thought I was strictly fantasy but this story has taught me I love love. The push and pull, the cute interactions, the wanting to but restraints due to unknown consequences. Almost like a forbidden love type thing. The story is so real to life with real life struggles. There's so many things we don't say because we're afraid even while we're in a relationship. No one wants to hurt, ah. The lessons. Oh and I love how the singer's voice is described, raspy and whiskey, what a combo." —Amazon Reviewer

Tanner’s heart picked up its pace as a mixture of anticipation and dread flowed through him as he took in a drum set, a couple different guitars, amps, speakers, and the four people milling around. He was drawn to a tall woman, facing away from him and looked to be messing with a speaker.

Her cropped black hair was pin-straight with purple streaks threaded throughout it. Her long neck was bare of hair but had a treble clef tattooed at the center, followed by a mixture of notes dancing along her spine and disappearing under her fitted white shirt.

Tanner dragged his gaze from her neck, not sure why he was entranced and looked at a blond man tapping absently on a snare drum while talking on a cell phone. He glanced up, and damn the guy looked like Kurt Cobain’s twin. He smiled, waving a drumstick in greeting.

Next to the drummer was the typical rocker guy. Complete with septum ring in the nose, gauged ears, and sleeve tattoos running up both arms. He was eyeing Tanner with distaste.

This is such a mistake.

If only his fingers didn’t itch to touch the strings of his Telecaster. To hear it sing with a full band.

Still, this all screamed upheaval and chaos. He didn’t need it. Not even temporarily.

As if sensing his desire to flee, Zia spoke before he could run. “Hey, guys, this is Tanner. He’s here to try out.”

They all looked at him, and he froze. Forgetting about escape.

The raven-haired woman was stunning. Stormy gray eyes with the sexiest mouth he’d ever seen; full and sinful.

She, on the other hand, seemed less taken. Her gaze flickered over him, dismissing him. It pissed him off. She wrote him off before he’d strung a single note.

Now he didn’t want to leave. He needed to prove this woman wrong.

Tanner mentally cataloged the most difficult songs he knew by heart. He may not look the rocker part, but he could damn well play the guitar.

“So, this is the Accountant,” drawled the guy with the tattoos and piercing. “This should be interesting.”

“Jayce,” Zia hissed.

“If this is a bad time, I’ll leave.” He didn’t need or want their scorn. Hell, he didn’t want to be here at all.

Liar.

The drummer stood, pocketing his cell. “No, stay. And thanks for stopping by. Zia told us it took some convincing.” Coming around, he offered Tanner his hand.

“I’m Lincoln,” he said. “The smart-ass is our bass player, Jayce. Scarlett is our lead guitarist that has left us scrambling for a temporary replacement.” She smiled and waved. Lincoln pointed to the sexy dark-haired woman. “This is Maggie. She sings and writes most of our songs.”

“What are you going to play?” Zia asked

“I don’t know,” He dropped to his haunches, opening his guitar case. “What kind of music do you play?"

“Seriously, you don’t even know who we are?” Jayce spat.

“Nope.”

Zia groaned, and Lincoln chuckled.

Tanner was lying, enjoying the immature kick of pissing off the bassist. He’d had heard of the band from the students he tutored. And after Zia mentioned she was their manager, he’d watched a couple grainy videos online. Even from the crappy cell videos, he saw they were good.

His gaze shot to Maggie, then away. The clips had failed to show her beauty.

Plugging in his amp, he stood, guitar in hand. “Zia tells me you guys play rock. But is it alternative, blues, or something else?”

“Don’t worry about the genre. Play something difficult. Impress me,” said a voice dipped in sex and honey, with a shot of whiskey.

Tanner looked into Maggie’s impatient eyes. That feminine voice, with a splash of raspy depth, made him want to do more than impress her.

He played the first song that came to mind. Looking up, he caught a quick smile flicker across her enticing lips.

It vanished in a flash, but it had lit up her whole face and made his pulse jump.

“Maggie May. Cute,” she said blandly, making him wonder if he’d imagined that flicker of humor. “Not bad either. What else do you have?”
